Tom spoke today.  A cap was put on the trache collar during the day (as he transitions off the trache) and he was able to speak.  Some of his first words: "Give me that, Nancy,"  referring to the remote for the TV!  He was also asking for scissors to cut the mittens off his hands (used to keep him from pulling out his trache).  He mentioned something about the car to Nancy as well.  She thinks he was trying to get her to take him home.  Tom is definitely more himself everyday!  ;)

It is truly amazing how much he progresses each day, despite this very long process.  He did not talk to Bryan during his visit tonight, but they did watch some TV and Tom laughed a bit.

Please continue to pray for Tom's patience and perseverance, physically and mentally. His second oldest son and new daughter-in-law are visiting this weekend.  It will be interesting if/when he figures out he missed their wedding 2 weeks ago. Please pray for a good visit for the family.
